Darsheel refuses Best Child Actor award, claims he wants Best Actor

Who knew that out of all the celebrities in the industry, a little boy would be the one to stand up to award shows? Taking after his director Aamir Khan, Darsheel Safary has challenged the Star Screen Awards by turning down his Best Child Actor trophy.
After stealing so many hearts with an awe-inspiring performance in Taare Zameen Par, he believes he deserves to be recognized in the Best Actor category, especially considering the fact that Aamir Khan was nominated (and won) as 'Best Supporting Actor'. In a simple statement he says, "I am playing the lead role in the film, so I should get the Best Actor Award." At the recent award function, it was Shahrukh Khan who took home the award for Chak De! India.
Kudos to Darsheel for standing up so courageously. One hopes he bags the award he so rightly deserves.
STUPID FELLOW you r still a 12 year old small boy why do u need BEST ACTOR AWARD.Keep quite and accept the BEST CHILD ACTOR AWARD even when you r 90 year old.
its a small childs comment.childrens have rights to expess there feeling, so where atitute comes.its kids personal feelings un-necessary people making issue of it.
I have a problem with any actor, of any age, demanding to be nominated for a best actor performance from their very first film. You need trouble to mature, young Darsheel, in your craft...that is if you continue acting. One movie alone, despite how well you did, doesn't prove you are the best actor or deserving of a nomination.
I am not disputing that Darsheel did well. He did a fantastic job, but it wasn't a stand out performance to me. I've seen no different from similar child actors his age. He has a long way to go to be in leagues with a child actor such as Dakota Fanning. I'll reserve judgment until he has a few more movies "under his belt."
i think attacking darsheel is immature. look at the child's performance. it was startling, heart renching and totally captivating. he was the lead actor in the film and deserved the best actor award, and even the best child actor award. shah rukh khan is a good entertainer/performer. i love him. but we must give darsheel what is his - he has earned the best actor award. not because we have big names in the industry then awards are their dues. no. we must earn what we have. chake de india was a very good film, but it cannot compare to tare zameen par. the same way om shanti om cannot compare to aja nachale.
It is time these AWARDS are given to the rightful people....everyone knows SRK and others are good.......the WORLD has seen enough of SRK....Darsheel beta has GUTS, something the Awards Committee does not have....Good Luck Darsheel......

ayesha and sweta prasad both won in the best child actor category and they were waaaayyy better than Darsheel.Specially Sweta Prasad..that was a more challenging and substantial role..atleast better than darsheel's portrayal.if they didnt demand a BEST ACTRESS then even darsheel shouldnt..in this entire drama he is creating a bad impression abt himself which totally negates the good performance he has given. And anyway i think it is just another "planned" controversy to keep the shows going!! so ppl shouldnt be bothered as it is.ok darsheel better luck next time
How can anyone even BEGIN to say that because Darhseel is a kid he can't go up against Big B, SRK, etc.???
This isn't about prestige or # of years in the industry...its PERFORMANCE! It's not about whether SRK won the award or not, the fact is that Darsheel was an EXTRAORDINARY performer and if anything deserved a nomination in the BEST ACTOR category.
If Ayesha Kapoor can win for Black and Shweta Prasad for Iqbal, then why not Darsheel????
oh and darsheel never attacked srk or is comparing himself with them. He just thinks he should win best actor instead of best'child actor' which is true because he was the main actor!

god some people are so blind with jealousy..like natasha..dearie srk has been awarded not for oso but for CDI which was the best movie of the year anyways.darsheel i think you have got more than what u actually deserve..people would go to any extent to put up some tom dick n harry against srk.

Darsheel should be taught to speak with maturity and modesty. His film and his work has been praised and he has got Best Child Actor and Jury award from Screen.He should not be encouraged to speak in this manner.In India, this is the system--children have a seperate category.Accept it or change it, but that can be done by and by. Bachcha, take whatever awards you are given and study properly in school.

but i also feel that abhishek deserves the award over darsheel because his performance in guru spoke for itself
there were parts with darsheel in the movie that still showed the amateurish side of him in acting...but being a complete newcomer with no background is still very impressive on his side

Only Shahrukh can deserve the best actor award. and i think there will be no excuse. he has taken lots of efforts for play the Kabir Khan in chuk de. so don't compare darsheel with SRK. are you mad?
Somehow I agree wid Darsheel's stand coz yes if Amir was nominated for Best supporting Actor category then Darsheel should have been nominated for Best Actor Category...just like the way Swetha Prasad was nominated and had won Best supporting actress award a few years back beating a few very senior actresses...why sould the rules be any different for Darsheel.
Ya,he must deserve an award for his excellent performance in taare zameen par but he should not compare himself with ak or srk because there are many things to learn for him. Darsheel is not a perfectionist as aamir khan is & he is still in the learning process. He shouldn't be so arrogant for his good performance as sucess doesn't last for long.
Shahrukh Khan is a shameless personality. For a role of nothing, which needed only standing dialogues and hardly 50 minutes role he was given best actor ...while this small kid who inactd in the complete movie with broad spectrum expressions and emotions was given this making fool award! SRK should have little shame left and at least he shoudl have shared the award witht his kid who in every way was much superior than SRK in performance. In fact best actor award has been totally wrong and this shows very well how awards are won in actual and what awards mean these days. Paesa fenk Tamasha Dekh? Amazd to see total negligence of movies like Guru, Abhisehek Performance, Good Friday, 1971, Manorma 6ft, Kabul Express for awful cinematography and editing and brave film making ... these award functions proove that they are sold out like red light area prostitutes!

he is getting carried away by all the success coming his way. now this is too much..the movie was good no doubt but asking for a best actor award is taking it too far.the only other actor worthy of recognition was ABHISHEK BACHCHAN for GURU..darsheel better luck next time!
