Akshay Kumar’s son, Aarav, has become the youngest person to win a Green Globe Foundation Award for his efforts towards preventing global warming.
The Green Globe Foundation Awards exist specifically to recognize individuals and organizations who make a positive contribution to the environment through fighting climate change. Aarav’s award – for Extraordinary Contribution by a Child – is for adopting a village without electricity and providing it with solar lanterns and similar energy-saving devices. Reportedly, nine year old Aarav was inspired last year both by watching a documentary called Greenathon, and also by his “Preity aunty” (Preity Zinta) who similarly adopted a village on her birthday.
Though Aarav’s parents Akshay and Twinkle are currently in Germany for a hydrotherapy course and were unable to attend the award ceremony, Akshay is said to be very emotional about his environmentally conscious son’s achievement. Proud grandmother Dimple Kapadia accompanied Aarav to the award function, held at the inaugural evening of the Delhi Sustainable Development Summit at the Taj Palace, New Delhi, where Abhishek Bachchan, Al Gore and Arnold Schwarzenegger all spoke via satellite on the effects of global warming.

Celebs can totally influence the youth... We wanna ape everything that they do! Right from the clothes they wear to the way they speak.... That’s why I feel it’ll really help if some of our Bollywood stars such as SRK, Mr. Bacchan and even newbies like Ranbir & Deepika, start spreading the Green Message. They should also do some stuff like taking part in plantation drives.
I recently read about – a tree plantation drive on Jaago Re and even helped out by informing my friends about it. It’s called the Sapling Project and it was a huge success...
But I think that this project would have done super duper well if a Bollywood star or cricket player were spoke about it!
