Bollywood stars have made their mark on the global map in a number of different ways. The next celebrity to make their country proud is martial arts expert and practitioner, Akshay Kumar. He has been selected as the Indian Ambassador for the 2010 Olympic Games which will commence from January 30, 2010 in Vancouver, Canada.

Along with 15 other international celebrities, Akshay will not only represent India, but is the only star representing the the Global Entertainment Industry. This prestige comes shortly after the actor received the highest Japanese honour of the 'Katana' (a type of Japanese sword).

Canadian Prime Minister, Stephen Harper is currently in India where he was to introduce Akshay (also a brand ambassador of the Special Olympics in India) as the sole torch bearer from the country for the 2010 Olympics.

According to a source from the Olympic Committee, the event was going to be held on Monday, November 16 at an exclusive luncheon attended by about 50 CEOs of prominent tourist companies. The Canadian Tourism Commission (CTC) was said to bring the Olympic Torch to the luncheon which would be presented to Akshay.

The source went on to say that, "This will be the first of its kind - a sitting head of state travels abroad and invites someone from another nation to represent their nation (India)."

Akshay will not only be carrying the Olympic Torch, but will most definitely be carrying the pride of Bollywood, his country and Indians all over the world.

Yes, Indian need to grow up. Actors are nothing bust just actors. They perform various action scenes with the help of camera trick and dummy actors. But majority of Indian people don't know that and starts to worship them.

The real heroes are those, like the above comment said, who brings real pride to the country. Those sports persons can't fake it, but actors can. So, why give god status to actors and not our sports persons?

I am not against any actors. But I feel that in Olympic, it is inappropriate to neglect sports persons.

Weird India, weird people.

Indians are horrible people. They treat actors as some gods.Sports person like Rajiv Singh Rathore who brought silver and gold medals to India must be given the honor!!
