Yash Raj Films'
Dil Bole Hadippa starring
Rani Mukherjee and
Shahid Kapoor opened in theaters on Friday to immense expectation. While the film's story is getting mixed reviews, the gorgeous Rani is getting raves for her performance as Veera and Veer.
In fact, the esteemed
New York Times has a review of DBH and Rachel Saltz wrote, "Directed by Anurag Singh, "Dil" takes place in a colorful Punjab, with amber waves of grain and sassy local girls who chomp on sugar cane. It's a fantasy of the Indian heartland, a perfect setting for splashy musical numbers and an appropriate one for a film that itself is fantasy: part sports tale, part nationalist love story, part feminist comedy."
Saltz has nothing but praise for the star in her double role, "Ms. Mukherjee's enthusiasm is catchy, and when Veera delivers a feminist speech at the end, she's moving, too."
Adding, "Ms. Mukherjee seems to be having the time of her life as Veer/Veera."
Our esteemed reviewer Roshni Mulchandani said to watch the film just for Rani, "Performance wise, Rani Mukherjee is back and how. Not only does she look incredible but manages to hold the entire film together. Whether it's Veera or Veer, she does justice to her film."
On her popular blog, Filmi Girl applauded the film and especially Rani's performance writing, "Rani Mukerji cranks up the charisma to 11 and twinkles her way into our hearts. She anchors almost every frame of DBH and make no mistake, this is her film. The RANI is back!"
Seems Rani is the queen of DBH - if you will forgive the pun! To see if you agree, catch
Dil Bole Hadippa in theaters now!
Rani has just scorched the screen in this movie.....be it comedy or romance or revolting emotions she has just shattered all conventional rules and benchmarks and has danced her way in all our hearts.......behold all tinsel town twinkies, the Queen is back and she is back with a bang!!!
