Bollywood – The Drought is Over
By Andrew Stephenson - BollySpice.com

At last, the long Bollywood drought which hasn’t seen a big hit for six months has ended with the John Abraham-Katrina Kaif-Neil Nitin Mukesh movie New York reporting occupancy rates of a steady 70% all week-end. Cinema owners are also describing it as a roller expecting high rates for several weeks to come as word of mouth spreads. The film successfully combines the traditional triangular love story, with the trauma of 9/11, revealing some extraordinary statistics along the way – such as the 1200 detentions that took place in the wake of the terrorist attack.

Katrina Kaif was so moved by the film that she broke down after she attended a special screening last week. "It was embarrassing,” she says, “This has never happened to me before. I was deeply moved by the film. And I couldn't believe what my director Kabir Khan had achieved in my performance. I kept staring at myself. 'That's me!' I exclaimed at the end of the film."

Katrina kept a diary whilst on the set of New York and the intention is that it should now be produced as a book to accompany the film. “I like to write,” she explains, “It gives me a perspective on me and the world around me. We’re now looking for the correct pictures to illustrate the specific images in my diary entries.”
