In an industry dominated by PR events – music launches, cast parties, brand ambassadors, fashion events and much more, one name that deserves greater recognition than he gets is the tireless Flynn Remedios. You won’t find Flynn dealing with the A-list cast and crew – the likes of Big B, Bipasha or AR Rahman – well not yet anyway, for Flynn is still firmly entrenched in the lower order of things – but maybe he likes it that way? After all, it’s easy to promote Priyanka but much more difficult, more fun and therefore much more rewarding to gain space for Priyankaa, the Marathi starlet on his books.

In the last few days alone, Flynn’s protégés have popped up all over the media and that’s just a normal week for the hard-working journalist, author, documentary film maker, script writer, editor, techno-legal, Brand & Image Management consultant as he describes himself. He is the convenor of Futuristic Media Network and runs the Living Talent agency, he’s the organiser of the Miss Bikini India competition, he runs Bollywood Brands which has Sherlyn Chopra on its books, he is also the spokesperson for Rakhi Sawant and is helping to engineer the career of new girl in town Claudia Ciesla. He edits the magazine Fashionista. When does this guy ever sleep?

Police complaints, stars in danger, passing acquaintance with the A-list, career relaunches, pouting wannabes, hype and shenanigans of the most endearing sort all form part of Flynn’s daily life – he’s an essential part of Bollywood.

Let’s take a peek at Flynn’s activities over the last few days:

1. An anonymous caller threatened actress Ragasiya (also known as Vedika) with an acid attack if she walked the ramp at the Miss Bikini India International event. Flynn filed a complaint with the Oshiwara police in Mumbai. There had been trouble earlier at the auditions for the beauty pageant. “We were conducting auditions for the beauty pageant when a mob of about 20 persons gathered outside the audition hall,” said Flynn, “Earlier we had some problem with some model co-ordinators who didn’t want non-Maharashtrian model co-ordinators to send in their candidates. Since our event is open to all Indian girls and even to NRI girls of Indian origin residing abroad, we told them to get lost. After about 15 minutes, they returned with some 20-odd people and started shouting slogans.”

2. Ranbir Kapoor lookalike Anant Narayan is apparently furious that he is being SMS stalked by a young girl called Ameesha Singh – even when he’s filming in London. “I am at the end of my tether,” he says. “The girl claims to be 19-years old and is from a well-known suburban college in Mumbai,” explains Flynn Remedios, Anant’s agent, “She is well-read and speaks perfect English. And she is smart, because she has refused to reveal her contact details in any way that would help us track her down.” Would anyone who knows an Ameesha Singh in Mumbai please come forward!

3. Following an article on a website by Flynn Remedios, who was the first to expose the existence of the video, Canadian police were able to move quickly to remove a hardcore fake porn video of Salman Khan and Katrina Kaif from many American-hosted websites. “A senior Canadian police officer of the rank of Major/Assistant Commissioner who spoke on condition of anonymity explained that after the existence of this video on some porn websites was brought to the notice of police, the police immediately ‘instructed’ the websites, most of them USA-hosted to pull off the offending video.” Well done, Flynn!

4. Our man Flynn is also the publicist for Begum Sahiba, one of the most expensive theatre productions ever at 50 lakhs. It will star Poonam Desgupta. “It will be one of the most splendid plays and a visual treat for viewers,” says Flynn, who will also be making a video of the project for sale. At an informal launch party that included actress Priyankaa, looking like someone very familiar, veteran actress Poonam said, “It’s like coming back home again after ten years, after a long break, I am doing something that I have always loved. Now, I am back again with a bang in Begum Sahiba as the evergreen, quintessential Begum.”

5. Salman Khan and Claudia Ciesla have nothing but praise for each other. "Salman is really fearless and he has a heart of gold,” says Claudia. “Claudia is not just a friend,” says Sallu, “She is a very special friend to me. She is a very nice girl. I have even introduced her to my family." Isn’t that nice? According to Flynn Remedios, Claudia is grossly misunderstood by the Indian media: "She is not a topless or nude model. It was only once at the beginning of her career about 4 years ago-like many Indian actresses-that she posed topless for a very prestigious magazine. It was a very artistic and classy shoot.”

6. Regional actress Priyankaa has signed a three-film deal with Spectra Entertainment to make movies in Marathi, according to her publicist Flynn Remedios. The first of these is an historical epic in which she plays a princess captured by a rival prince. “While we would not like to specify the exact budget of this film,” he says cautiously, “It is definitely a big budget project when compared to the standards of the regional or Marathi film industry. Though the story is part fiction, it envelops and includes a great part of Maratha history, which would be a treat to watch.”

7. Krisshika Gupta, the other half of the controversial Neetu Chandra ‘lesbian’ shoot was physically abused during the process, claims her publicist Flynn Remedios. “Some persons from the crowd tried to pull her bath robe and also tried to touch her improperly and paw her,” he explains, “One of them pinched her on the rear. They showered her with some of the choicest abuses in vernacular languages and made vulgar and abusive signs and gestures at her. Krrishika will file an official police complaint after consulting her family and lawyers.”

8. In a press release from Flynn Remedios’ Futuristic News Media, we learn that Anant Narayan and Minissha Lamba might be back together again – though neither was contactable to confirm. It appears that someone spotted them partying at the Grand Hyatt in Mumbai. Minissha has previously denied any relationship but rumours from an unknown source persist….

9. The aforementioned Ragasiya will also be walking the ramp at the Living Talent Face of India model-search competition later this month. "We have requested Ragasiya to bikini walk at this event," says Flynn, the organiser of the event – and why not, we ask ourselves. The event will focus on ethnic couture and Ragasiya will wear a diamond-and-crystal studded bikini. Model Parvez Damania is also expected at the event.

10. Hot item girl from Tollywood, Merlyn, is all set to break into Bollywood, according to her publicist Flynn Remedios - “Merlyn is ready to bare all in front of the camera,” he says, “She is very confident and comfortable with her body and is working very hard with her Kick Boxing, Tap dancing, Power Yoga and acting classes which take up almost 12 hours each day – when she is not shooting that is. Merlyn is working overtime to get the perfect bod.” What exactly is Power Yoga – it sounds a bit scary, especially with the kick boxing and tap dancing, sounds like a lethal combination.

So there we have it – the movie life of the great Flynn Remedios, who in his spare time also manages to organise scientific conferences for nobel laureates (yes, it’s true). Flynn Remedios – one of the most remarkable characters in the great creative industry we call Bollywood – what would we do without him?
