10 Albums That Rocked Our World in 2008
By Stacey Yount - BollySpice.com

Bollywood fans not only countdown to the release of their favorite stars' films, they also can't wait to get their hands on the music. Soundtracks are not just background music in Bollywood films; they augment the story and give meaning to the film. A terrific soundtrack is not only full of great songs, but also sets the mood and moves the story along. 2008 had some fabulous albums that were the perfect match to the stories that were being told on screen and here is our list of the 10 Best!

10. Kismat Konnection

It certainly seems as if Pritam is a master at putting together a great album. The music for the film, which our reviewer gave a 3.5 star rating, also included one song by Sajid-Wajid. The album had two beautiful lovey-dovey tracks: 'Is This Love (Kahin Na Laage)' and 'Bakhuda Tumhi Ko', along with a couple of tracks so we could we see Shahid do one of the things he does best, dance ('Aai Pappi-Tu Hai Meri Soniye' and 'Move Your Body Now'). The track by Sajid Wajid had a typical Hindi beat 'Soniye Ve (Dhak Dhak Dhak)'. A great outing by Pritam.

hmm... i read the feature and then the comments and make me think what am I in terms of judging music.

it is not easy for me group and numerically categorise music- when all are of diffenrent genre. so let me give my list of brilliant ones.

-JODHAA AKBAR (Raham's music is classic and majestic. it would have been even great had Ashutosh given them a little more opulence in picturisation)

-JAANE TU...YA JAANE NA (Rahman Sir brings in sucha spunk in the music that is rarely visible. They are all youthful and peppy and not once during the hearing of any single track does one feel bit streched. I think some credit for same does goes to the film director Abbas Tyrewala for his really really cool lyrics and yes, excellent script and screenplay)

-ROCK ON(I will be honest. I ridiculed the music beofre I saw the film. It was shitty for me to hear such absurd lyrics and felt bad for Javed Saad who wrote them. But when I watched them, I grew mature as a cinema lover and also as a person who wishes to eneter the industry as a film-director. The songs had all the spunk that can be called as a coming of age film music. I loved the way Jaaved Saab made the world, and me especially, wake up to the new brand of film lyrics. And SEL did wonders to his words with a flavour that is hypnotising in all the good sense. I love to sing along when the track are played, each and every time.)

-TASHAN(another example as of ROCK ON with me, though the diffenrece being I still can not stand watching this film film as it is very absurd. And sre the lyrics of the songs from the film - they are the absurdest. But they have such a strong effect that the more you listen to the trcks- you love the absurdity. It makes me alive and free of all the world tentions. They make me wanna dance forgetting all my problems. COnrats to ita makers Vishal & Shekhar who penned some songs along with others. Dil Dance Maarey is ULTIMATE PIECE and FALAK TAK is sucha melody. and so do all charge me)

-YUVVRAAJ(According to me Rahman Sir's best work till date and his most difficult woo. It can atke ages for composers to create melodies and ballads and dance tracks and rag-based and themes and luv ballads and all that are in this album. I feel very bad that the film could not five the score its necessary and deserving recognition- which is IMMORTAL status.)

-DOSTANA(wow. this albus is a big respite and fresh air as the songs are all well grooved and shaped and not at all bombared with unnecessary remixes. a completefun and groovy album, even including the Maa Da Laadla remix which was later introduced to promote the film. the song is the funniest song to have been ever created-at least that is what i have heard in my 20yrs of life. Desi Girl is such a spunky no and so do the others like Jane Tu, which brings to screen a real good friendship no after KK's Yaaron. Kuch Kum and Khabar naicomplete the whole Bollywood picture with great ease.)

-Ghajini(Rahman Sir again. What can I say more. Every song is a master stroke and also a wake up ring for all who think Rahman Sir can not create typical Bollywood masala nos. It is a complete commercial album in every sense of Bollywood)
