This has been a great year for actors with a range of star vehicles such as
Jodhaa Akbar, Singh is Kinng, Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi and
Ghajini to work with – but perhaps more interestingly, a slew of movies with fascinating plots that allow real actors to express themselves such as
A Wednesday, Maharathi and
Dasvadinya. In addition, we've seen a number of actors appearing in crossover movies of great interest such as
The Last Lear, Heaven Can Wait and the extraordinary
Slumdog Millionaire. Here's the list we've come up – you're sure to disagree – so let us know what you think!
10. Shreyas Talpade (Bombay to Bangkok, Welcome to Sajjanpur, Golmaal Returns) Shreyas Talpade hasn't put a foot wrong over the last fifteen months. The former TV actor hit the big time last year backing up SRK and Deepika Padukone in
Om Shanti Om and then started this year in the comedy

Welcome to Sajjanpur, where he bounced off Amrita Rao and as one of the guys who carried
Golmaal Returns to its big success. Talking of Sajjanpur, he is full of praise for director Shyam Benegal - "An entire film on a letter writer can only be made by a person of Shyam Benegal's calibre," he says. We're looking forward to seeing him in
Click in the new year.
I don't get it, why are all these unknown people the top performing actors of 2008 while you seem to have gravely missed the deserving few whose stardom depends of these "lists". It's good to mention Naseerudin and I'm glad He's very high on that list, but where did Imran Khan go? He not only debuted last year, but was one of the top entries to the industry.
You've also missed out the other very popular actor, Ranbir Kapoor, who had his first hit last year.
Are we talking in terms of acting? Because if that was so, why is Aamir first, and Shahrukh third?
On the other hand if this was a popularity list, why are the in-your-face-popular people missing.
Weird.
