'Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi' Music Hits Good Notes

Not only is the film expected to do very well; it is also the music for Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi that is making waves. In fact, it is well on its way to being the top of the charts for 2008 and not just in India.

Composers Salim and Suleiman said: “When we put in a lot of hard-work to make our music we hope that the audience will like our music. We are very happy that people are enjoying the music."

The songs are a big hit in India, sales of the album have reached 11 lakhs and the estimate is that it could go as high as 20 lakhs. However, it is not only in India that they are being declared hits, ‘Tujh Mein Rab Dikhta Hai, ‘Haule Haule’ and ‘Dance Pe Chance’ are also on radio stations hit lists internationally including the cities of London, Vancouver and Birmingham.

Jaideep Sahani, the lyricist on the soundtrack said that, “We composed the songs according to the mood and flavour of the script narrated by Adi (Aditya Chopra).” And since they did work to match the script, it is even sweeter to them that the songs are hit Salim and Suleiman said: “If songs that are composed according to the script become a hit, it is bound to make us happy."

With the soundtrack already being declared a big hit, one wonders how high the numbers will go now that the film has released in theaters. We will have to wait and watch to see how high the final numbers on both Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi the soundtrack and film end up!

Although I like the songs of RNBJ I find that for a Yashraj Films soundtrack it has too few songs compared to their other previous big hits.
What disappoints me more is that a song like the title song of RNBJ as good as it is as a solo in the voice of Roop Kumar Rathod , the song should have also been made into a duet with different lyrics in the voices of Lataji-RKR as this song the more I listen to it I can't help but think as to what a classic it would have been had it been sung as a duet by the nightingale. It was a custom made song for her voice. I am also disappointed that they did not use Udit's voice- a singer who has given Yashraj Films so many memorable hits. As for expecting Asha Bhosle - it seems Yashraj has moved on to Sunidhi and she excels in Dance Pe Chance. No more Asha who sang the still popular
Zara Sa Zhoomloon Mein in DDLJ and the evergreen
hit Le Gayey Le Gayee in DTPH. Shreya Ghosal is wasted in that she gets to sing just a few lines.
