Ash to work with Bhansali, Akhtar, Bhardwaj...and more!
By Aly Kassam - BollySpice.com
5 Oct 2008

Aishwarya Rai Bachchan's latest interview clearly indicates that she's one of the few actresses who has played her cards right. Unlike her contemporaries that started around the same time, Ash has bagged several plum projects. Already announced are Vipul Shah's Action Replay (with Akshay Kumar), Mani Ratnam's Raven (with Abhishek Bachchan and Govinda), Robot (with Rajnikanth) and Dhun (with Abhishek, again).

However, in a recent interview with the Times of India, Ash revealed that she has several other films lined up with prestigious directors. The most exciting announcement of all is that Aishwarya will be working with Sanjay Leela Bhansali yet again, with whom she delivered some of her best performances in Devdas and Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam. It should also be noted that Filmfare recently reported that Hrithik Roshan will feature in Bhansali's next. Could this mean that the magical pair will appear yet again on-screen?

About her forthcoming films, Ash explained, "There is Rajiv Menon’s venture, a Farhan Akhtar production, Shankar’s film Robot opposite Rajnikanth, and ventures by Vipul Shah, Sanjay Leela Bhansali and Vishal Bharadwaj. I have okayed all these scripts. There is a Mani Ratnam venture too, called Raven, which is the working title. This film will be made both in Hindi and Tamil." Wow!

As for Hollywood, Ash says that besides Pink Panther 2 (releasing in February 2009), she has her hands full at the moment. She also denies that Rajiv Menon's film is a remake of Abhimaan, and adds that it deals with conjugal relationships just like Chalte Chalte and Akele Hum Akele Tum.

As for Robot, Ash says, "The film is full of action and special effects." Let's just hope we don't get another Love Story 2050. Her husband, Abhishek, recently saw the release of his film Drona that also had ample special effects. What made headlines, though, was the fact that Shahrukh Khan showed up for the premiere. About this, Ash said, "The entire film fraternity has supported us, so why point to a single person? My heartfelt thanks to them for their love and support."

Currently she is currently travelling around India as part of the Longines campaign which includes walking the ramp. Having just visited Kolkata, she speaks fondly of director Rituparno Ghosh and modestly admits that he has spoken to her about all his films since Chokher Bali but she was unable to commit to any of them because of date problems.

When the campaign is over, she is likely to begin filming for Mani Ratnam's film. Ash explains that she considers Mani her guru, which makes sense since she started her career with him in Iruvar and later followed up with Guru.

Finally, when questioned, she reveals that when she does decide to have a child she would not want to keep it a secret. But considering the promising films she has in the works, we wonder when she'll find time for a baby!

Abid, Bollywood Trade News Network

Hrithik Roshan is still riding high on the big success of Ashutosh Gowariker's JODHAA AKBAR, despite stiff opposition from the genre (historical), politicians and a section of the trade. When we had last heard, Hrithik Roshan was on verge of completing a long shooting schedule of his home banner's international project KITES in Los Angeles. The superstar is expected in Bombay, anytime this week.

Waiting impatiently for KITES, the fans of the super choosy actor are keen to know as to whether Hrithik is doing a film with Sanjay Leela Bhansali, as per media reports. Well here is the exact situation.

While Hrithik's business manager neither confirmed nor denied the news, a very reliable source, quite close to the super star assures us that Roshan junior has indeed signed the film. And before we leave, here is more joy for Duggu fans. The superhero is super excited about the script of the Bhansali film, which he says is his best till date!

Geetha i agree with you, ash really does have the ability to do well, i think part of her success goes to her ability in managing the media, shes very selective and never finger points. The newer generation will definitly need to take tips off her. I can wait for her and SLB to come together, ad add hrithik to that OMG it will be Jodha Akbar all over again but better. God bless Her

Ash is finished now. Abhiman is another Umraojaan in the making and others as well. Only Action Replay with Akki will be successful. And, by the way she is a no competition to kat in terms of beauty.

Saleem , its not fake. Here's the full interview.

Woman of many parts

She’s been playing the role of Bachchan bahu to perfection, and promises that should she graduate to being a mom, she’d never keep it a secret. Aishwarya Rai Bachchan opens up to Amrita RoyChoudhury about Abhishek, her Kolkata connect and more

Tell us about your Kolkata connect.

• It all started from the Miss World days. Many people mistook me to be a Bengali because of my surname, which sounds similar to Roy. Some even started talking to me in Bengali! Another great connect is, of course, Rituparno Ghosh. Rituda has discussed almost every script after Chokher Bali with me but prior commitments prevented me from being a part of his ventures. My role in Devdas was appreciated worldwide, and I was even offered Parineeta, which I couldn’t take up because of earlier commitments. And above all, my sasumaa is a Bengali, and I have started wearing a loha ever since I got married. I am thankful for all the warmth, love and blessings that this city has showered on me.

Any special plans for the Pujas?

• I have been travelling to all the metros as part of Longines’ brand campaign. I’m the brand’s Ambassadress of Elegance and have come to Kolkata for the launch of its HydroConquest line. It was a conscious decision to come here first, just before the Durga Puja. And I would like to wish everyone — Durga Pujar antorik priti o subhechha!

Sometime back, there was a buzz that the stork had visited you. Is there some good news you’d like to share?

• Well, life is full of good news (laughs). The one you’re talking about, is something that I wouldn’t like to keep under wraps, should it happen. Being a mother is one of the biggest roles that a woman could play. So why keep it a secret?

Your next venture...

• There is Rajiv Menon’s venture, a Farhan Akhtar production, Shankar’s film Robot opposite Rajnikanth, and ventures by Vipul Shah, Sanjay Leela Bhansali and Vishal Bharadwaj. I have okayed all these scripts. There is a Mani Ratnam venture too, called Raven, which is the working title. This film will be made both in Hindi and Tamil.

Mani Ratnam once said that you are not just a pretty face, but can act as well…

• Well, all I can say is that he is a man of few words and coming from him, it is a huge compliment. He is more like my guru. I would like to thank him and I will cherish his words. At the same time, I realise that it’s a huge responsibility which I would like to carry forward.

Any Hollywood ventures?

• Currently, my hands are full and I hardly have time for anything else. Pink Panther 2 is slated for a February release and I haven’t signed any new Hollywood venture.

Coming to Rajiv Menon’s next, isn’t that a remake of Abhimaan?

• You can’t really say that it’s a remake or compare it with one particular film. There are so many films made on these lines, like Chalte Chalte or Akele Hum Akele Tum, which delve into conjugal relationships. Abhishek and I liked the script a lot when Rajiv narrated it.

But isn’t it true that ego becomes an issue once the wife excels?

• Well, I can’t comment on that, since I haven’t experienced any such thing in real life.

Tell us about Robot...

• The film is full of action and special effects

A lot was made of SRK’s appearance at the premiere of Abhishek’s latest film…

• The entire film fraternity has supported us, so why point to a single person? My heartfelt thanks to them for their love and support.

Now that the verdict is out on that film, what do you have to say about it?

• A lot of investment and hard work have gone into it. Goldie tried his hand at a genre which was beyond any clichés. When I first saw the film, it was like watching Clash of The Titans or flipping through the pages of Amar Chitra Katha!

Would you like to be paired onscreen with Abhishek more often?

• We don’t really have a say in our onscreen pairing. It is the director who dictates the casting. In fact, I’ve never been consistently paired opposite anyone. It is only after Abhishek and I got married that we realised that we have done maximum films together, and in most of them, we were not even cast as a pair!

Lastly, who takes the decisions at home? You or Abhishek?

• Life is all about partnership. It’s not about taking the upper hand.

Fantastic..

Cross my fingers first.. Am So Happy to Read this Article. I have always been confident about Aishwarya and this whole thing comes as an eye-opener to all those film journalists and film stars who have been openly or discreetly spreading all-the-nonsense about Ash's career being over.

But that also doesn't matter much, than my happiness on the development (which was very much obvious even if it had not been on print).

God Bless You Girl..

Am very Happy For you as always..

About the Baby, well I trust Aishwarya and Abhishek and it is very heartning to see a couple having their married life planned beautifully.

God Bless them both and their family with all the Happiness.

Love You Aishwarya. You ROCK!!
