Rani Mukerji is going to take on a sports avatar for the first time for her next film with Yash Raj. According to TOI, the film will center around cricket and will have Rani playing the captain of the team. The new film is also the first time Rani will be paired with Shahid Kapoor and it is being directed by newcomer Anurag Singh, that's lots of firsts!

Rani says she is enjoying learning and playing cricket as she prepares for the role: “I don’t know if any actress has played a cricketer before, but I’ve been learning cricket on the field for the past two months. I can play the game convincingly now, though not as good as the professionals yet, but I’m glad to be doing work which challenges.”

In Thoda Pyaar Thoda Magic, which releases on June 27th, Rani plays an angel and now in the new film a cricketer, so what other roles would she like to play? “Maybe an astronaut like Kalpana Chawla. And I’d also love to play a doctor. I’ve never done that before. Come to think of it, I’ve never worked with Shahid Kapoor before either. I’m doing so now.”
