The paths of two world superstars crossed at the launch of new Tamil blockbuster Dasavathaaram in Chennai on Saturday – Amitabh Bachchan and Jackie Chan. What a coup for the producers and what strides the Tamil film industry is making these days. The film, Dasavathaaram stars Kamal Hassan as eight different avatars – although in the film there are ten avatars. Directed by KS Ravikumar, it's rumoured this will be even bigger than last year's mega Tamil hit, Sivaji. Starting in medieval times, it leaps to America and back to India and features some of the industry's most beautiful women alongside Kamal in the lead role – Mallika Sherawat, Asin and Jayapradha.

Jackie Chan's interest in the movie may be in the martial arts action choreographed by Sonny Lake – or perhaps it's Mallika Sherawat who he worked with on the set of the epic movie 'The Myth' in 2005 - or maybe it's that one of the ten avatars is rumoured to be George W.Bush! At the launch, Jackie announced his interest in making a film in India – so it's possibly no coincidence that Amitabh was also there. Imagine that – a movie bringing two great superstars together – now all we need is George Clooney to complete the cast!
