^^ i fell in love with those 2 songs when i was like best friends with this malaysian/bruneian girl named ardina...n i was friends w/their entire family too LOL

n so they would always put on malay CD's and VCD's like karaoke LOL cuz they knew i loved it ehhehehe...n they would have parties on the weekends n always invite me and i totally had a blast

n Sheila Majid...she's GREAT too....OMG i love this topic...i've always wanted a place where i could go CRAZY about malay/sinagporean music!! :yahoo: :spin: this is like 1 of my fave things in the world (malay culture n music) singapore, indonesia, etc..

n OMG u mentioned Waheeda!!!! i LOVEEE herrrrrr!!!!! her songs are GREAT!!!! i have to find a few on my comp somewhere so i can say which are my faves, cuz there are a few of hers that i really like

n there's this other lady with an AMAZiNG voice- Aishah... i think she just went by her first name....i am looking for her songs all the time but can't find them :cry: but my friend's family loved her, esp their dad LOL...n she really has this amazing voice

n ppl like Nora, her album 'Naluri'- that's 1 of my FAVORiTES!!!! n that song 'Hadirlah Kekasih'!!! :faint: that song is so special 2 me...for so many reasons... i always just refer to the whole thing as 'Naluri Nora'

i also love 'oldies' like Fauzia Latiff, Ning Baizura, Erra Fazirra, Ziana Zain n her brother Anuar, and also Amelina- she's 1 of my favorites!!!

songs like 'Sansuria Khatulistiwa' and 'Bulan Cinta'- those songs are sooo great!!! :clap: oh and i love Ella as well- her music is so much fun ^-^

n this sort of newcomer, Siti Sarah, did she ever gain popularity eventually? cuz i remember hearing her voice n didn't think it was that amazing...but again it's hard 4 me to follow up on malay singers but i wish i had like a malaysian or singaporean channel here, that would be so cool

I like most of the artistes that u've mentioned. Esp Fauziah Latiff & Nora. And of cos Ziana Zain. Music of the late 80's & 90's are the greatest.

Most singers/bands from Malaysia & Indonesia are amongst the best in this region. But our artistes from Singapore, they're slowly getting there. With singers like Imran Ajmain & Ahli Fiqir, to name a few.

LOLOLOLLL!!! yes i was Ema very good!!! :haha: how did u discern that?? :P :chinese: yeaaa i basically had a heart attack when i wrote that post because i ADORE so many malaysian singers....whether from singapore, malaysia, or indonesia..... ohhh yay i'm glad u're a fellow fan of some of the ppl i've mentioned :wub: :clap2: yesss i agree!!! late 80's and 90's were magical times.. but malaysian music has such a charm about it....and while i think the pop is gorgeous, i also adore dangdut...the traditional stuff....i love the arabic and indian influences in it...it's just amazing....n local malay music is really fantastic....it's soo fascinating to me :wub:

n yes i kno malaysia & indonesia have the largest number of musicians, therefore they're amongst the best :P but don't worry i have faith in singapore too! =) now i'm not 2 familiar w/the ppl u just mentioned but i DEFiNiTELY heard of Ahli Fiqir....his name looks familiar 2 me...will have 2 google his name :D

hehehe LOL....thanks fina!!! yea i'm very familiar w/malaysian music n singers....tho LOL it's pretty ironic we have such different taste :P but it's all good :dance3: ohhh yea now i remember....u did mention u didn't like Siti...whoopsiees...LOL that's okay :P n OMGG u sang wassini and lagu rindu at ur friends bday party?? LOLL how cute....1 time my friend (ardina) and her family attended this party for malaysian/bruneian diplomats and ambassadors and they invited ME!! :wow: :crazy: and i remember...the 1st song i heard when i walked into the party was siti's 'joget berhibur' on VCD :lol: i was hooked ever since....neways i think they even made me sing some karaoke up there as well... english n malay stuff LOL

btw there's this band or sthg called 'Spring' and then there's another name to it...or maybe it's the name of their hit song...but it was something like springtime?? i remember they sounded brilliant...it was a group of guys..... i hope i have this right :unsure:

Yeah I did. It was fun but really embarrasing because they keep asking me to sing the songs. There was Seiring dan Sejalan... Sharifah Aini and Broery song... and then there was Cintaku Bukan di Atas Kertas by Siti... And Seroja... lol... They kinda booed at me when I said I wanted to go home... I was dissallowed to go home. I still remember... ahaha...

Dangdut is my fathers favourite because he is Javanese and I'm half Java... I remember when I was young my fathers side of the family was what they call "Kaki Dangdut" which is Dangdut fans... they brought me to this community centre at Siglap and let everyone dance and sing... Most Dangdut songs from Indonesia are Hindi songs changed into Malay... I remember a lot of it.
